Heat test

Hello!!!
So... In scirnce class we have a heat test on may 12. So far the heat unit is pretty easy but i just have to remember the difference between heat and temperature

Heat: Heat is the transfer of kinetic energy from one object to another. Heat causes change;the sun, oven, fire, matches, blow dryer, microwave. Heat transfres in three ways...radiatin,conduction and convection

Temperature: Temperatur is the measure of kimetic energy in a substance. Temperature is measured using the scale of a thermometer. Scales of measur include celcius fahreheit and kelvin.

Anoyher thing i need to study is insulators and conductors

Insulators: Do not allow heat energy to pass through easily

Conductors:Do allow heat energy to pass through easily

Anyways hopefully if i study hard, ill do well on the test!

My passion Project

I have now finnished presenting my passion project. It was about why its important for kids to learn how to cook. It felt really good to get it out of the way and done. I ran an experiment and taught some kids how to cook. They seemed to really  enjoyed it and here were my results (there may be some technical difficulties and the video may not show)

Heat unit

We are wrapping up the heat unit in science class. for every lesson there was an experiment The lessons were

Heat Vs temperature
Converting temperatures
Change of state
Particle theory
conduction convection and radiation
Heat transfer

My birdhouse is done I am very happy with it, all i need now are some suction cups to attach it to the window by the plexiglass. I am super exited to take it home. Mrs.B just told us that we are taking them today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She is actually marking mine right now. I CAN'T WAIT!!!!! YAYY

birdhouse (good copy)

What is the organisms scientific name
Poecile atricapillus is the chickadee's scientific name

What does the organism look like
it is white black yellow and gray male and female look the same exept male is slightly longer they weigh 9-14 grams.

What type of habitat does the organism need to live in? Does this change in from season  to season?

They live in North America They do not migrate need an area with food or water (like all living beings) since they don't migrate their habitat does not change from season to season.

Describe behaviours of your organism?mating, song or physical adaptation

They have 13 different calls pee taa and bee bay sounds. They have strong legs that let them hang upside down while looking for food.

Describe the nesting behaviour of the organism

By the end of March, the female begins looking for a nesting place. Once it is chosen, the male defends the surrounding area against intruders.

Together, they dig out a hole in the rotting wood of a dead stump, usually about 1 to 3 m above ground. They may also nest 9 to 12 m up in the dead parts of live trees, or in hollows abandoned by other hole-nesting birds.

As she prepares to lay her eggs, the male feeds the female often, and she accepts his offerings. She lays one egg a day until there are five to 10; clutches of six to eight are most usual. The eggs are white with fine dark spots.

Only the female incubates, or sits on, the eggs for 20- to 30-minute periods during the day, and for the entire night. While she is on the nest, the male feeds her, but she also leaves to look for food.

After 13 or 14 days, the young hatch. The female broods, or warms, the young until they are well feathered. Both parents clean the nest by carrying away the droppings, and feed the nestlings from six to 14 times an hour.

After 16 or 17 days, the young are ready to leave the nest. Like most other hole-nesting birds, they know how to fly by this time, although their ability increases with practice. For two or three weeks more, the parents continue to feed them, while they gradually learn to feed themselves.

  1. How will local ecosystem be affected by the addition of new birdhouses?

simple bird house with the right dimensions will provide safety from predators, warmth during cold months and a place for breeding, birds that may not be chickadees who are late for migrating the birdhouses we build could save their lives

How might human behaviours affected the life of your organism? Positive & negative

We make birdhouses who save their lives and fill them with bird seeds so in my opinion we are pretty decent and generous to the chickadee's

Here are some pictures of a chickadee

About the chickadee (part 1 of 2)

The chickadee

  • Black White gray and yellow bird

  • Genders look the same, but males are slightly longer than females

  • Adults are 11.5–13 cm

  • 9-14 grams

  • wingspan is 16–21 cm

It is a very cute bird!!!!!

Chickadee calls

  • 13 different calls
  • highly complex
  • different meanings
  • song like bee bay.
  • pee taa

Birdhouse

Hello Hub buddies.
Today i finished my bird house, it was the standard birdhouse model, but I put some plexiglass on the back so I can put it up on my window and see the birds inside. I still need to figure out how I'm going to stop the birds from running into the glass thinking its air.
My bird is a chickadee it is really cute It is white and gray and sometimes some blue and black.                                                      I am going to post again about my bird.
